Dr Manisha Fernando (she/ her)
Manisha is a medical doctor, a Monash University graduate with specialist qualifications in General Practice and Rural General Practice. She has over twenty five years of experience and has lived and worked in the Macedon Ranges with her family for over twenty years.

She loves that as a generalist GP she can provide person centred care which draws on the strengths of knowing individuals and families over time. She enjoys working in partnership with her patients and families to improve health and wellbeing.

Manisha welcomes people of all backgrounds and strives to provide strengths based, person centred, whole person (holistic) care. Manisha offers preventative health care alongside responding to health issues as they arise. Her areas of clinical expertise and specific interest include preventative health, children’s health, adolescent health, women’s health, parenting and breast- feeding medicine, chronic disease management, mental health and travel medicine. Her approach is neurodiversity- affirming and gender affirming.

Additional information

Manisha holds fellowships in General Practice and Rural General Practice, a Masters of Public Health, a Certificate of Clinical Education and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Manisha has undertaken additional training in mental health care and psychological medicine. Manisha also works in public health and health governance and as a GP- Journalist for the RACGP. She has extensive experience in health education including for GP trainees, GP supervisors and medical students. Manisha is a passionate advocate for health equity, rural and remote health issues and primary health care.

Manisha lives in Dja Dja Wurrung Country and has lived and worked on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Taungurung peoples in the Macedon Ranges for over twenty years. She pays her respects to the Traditional Owners of the lands and waterways on which she lives, works and plays.
