Put a Spring in Your Step (SIS) Exercise Program

We’re here for you

The SIS Program, short for ‘Put a Spring in Your Step’ is designed to do just that, get you moving and add some vibrancy to life.
This program focuses on using exercise to prevent and / or manage chronic and complex conditions. Our exercises classes are designed and delivered by Accredited Exercises Physiologists who will support you to achieve your goals and improve your quality of life.

The program includes two exercise classes a week for 8 weeks providing a consistent and structured routine to build strength, balance, endurance and much more. With a variety of group exercise classes to suit different needs and abilities, we help you find the best place to start. All exercises can be modified to suit you and we will help you navigate challenges such as pain, movement restriction, lack of knowledge or confidence to find a way to move your body in a safe and enjoyable way.

We also regularly offer education sessions to support your active learning during exercise classes. We cover topics such as back pain, balance and exercise for osteoporosis and welcome suggestions for other topics you are interested in.

Patients diagnosed or are at risk of the following chronic conditions are eligible for the SIS program: Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Cardiovascular Disease, Osteoporosis, Type 2 Diabetes, Musculoskeletal Conditions (eg. Osteoarthritis).

Please make an appointment with your GP to assess your eligibility and for a referral to the program.

The details of what is involved.

Once we’ve received your referral, we will schedule a 1hr initial assessment where we will discuss your health and your goals, what classes would be most suitable for you and make a plan to get you started.

Next you meet with the Exercise Physiologist and do some physical tests to determine appropriate exercise prescription for your specific needs.
You will then start your exercise program, attending 2 sessions a week for 8 weeks.

Towards the end of your program we will repeat the physical test and review how you are progressing towards your goals. We will then discuss what you’d like to do next and what support and referrals you may need to continue your exercise journey.
