Dr James Smith

James is one of the Directors of Springs Medical. Originally from Melbourne, James completed his undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Science and Economics at Monash University and then completed his medical degree through the University of Melbourne in 2014. He has extensive hospital experience working in a range of specialties in Melbourne at the Austin, Northern, Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals. During this time he completed rotations in neurology, cardiology, geriatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, emergency medicine, general medicine, colorectal and cardiothoracic surgery, and completed a Diploma in Child Health. He completed his general practice fellowship in GP clinics in Melbourne and has now lives permanently in the Daylesford-Kyneton region to work full time.

James enjoys all aspects of general practice, but his favourite part is building ongoing relationships with his patients so he can provide them with individualised care. He welcomes new patients and plans to have a long career in the Daylesford-Kyneton region.

When not at work can be found tinkering on his hobby farm with his family, enjoying the beautiful wineries and restaurants of the region, or lost on a fly fishing expedition. He is also an avid Melbourne Demons supporter and is keen for the next Premiership flag!
